QLCC MISSION STATEMENT

The objectives of the Quality of Life and Career Committee are to define those stressors and quality of life issues which affect attorneys and judges, and to develop solutions and increase the awareness of those issues within the legal profession.

The Committee will achieve these objectives by:

bulletReviewing Florida Bar and other available surveys regarding attorney satisfaction and distress
bulletContacting other concerned Florida Bar committees to ascertain the stressors and quality of life issues particular to their members
bulletIdentifying existing local bar sponsored support groups focusing on these issues and publishing a directory of these groups for Bar members
bulletWorking with other Bar sections and committees to develop creative solutions and options to address issues of stress and quality of life
bulletProducing at least one annual CLE seminar in the area if quality of life/stress management
bulletEducating Bar members in new skills, including:
bulletStress management (relaxation techniques, time management)
bulletCommunication with other attorneys, clients, judges, etc.
bulletMediation and negotiation
bulletDealing with "difficult" people (clients and other attorneys)
bulletAvoiding burnout
bulletReducing the risk of malpractice
bulletReturning civility to the profession
